I believe strongly in RACK—Risk-Aware Consensual Kink. I recognize that some of the things that I enjoy, both as a sub and as a dom, like heavy impact and breathplay, are risky. The important thing is recognizing your own personal risk tolerance and how it fits into the play or lifestyle that you want. My risk profile has shifted over the years, and I have learned how to understand and talk about risk in a way that is non-judgemental and safe. Part of my risk management is knowledge. I never go into play thinking that I will learn a technique as I go. It is very important to me that I know what I am doing before I get into the room, in order to keep both (or all) of us safe.
