FAQs
A sex coach is a trained professional who works with individuals or couples to help them enhance their sexual experiences and overcome any challenges or concerns they may have. The specific role of a sex coach can vary depending on the needs and goals of the clients, but in general, a sex coach may:
Help clients to identify and communicate their sexual desires, boundaries, and needs
Provide education on sexual anatomy, physiology, and sexual health
Teach techniques for enhancing sexual pleasure and intimacy, such as communication skills, mindfulness, etc.
Help clients to overcome sexual difficulties such as performance anxiety, low libido, or difficulty reaching orgasm
Offer guidance and support for exploring new sexual experiences including BDSM & kink, and queer sex
Provide resources for sexual health and safety
The goal of sex coaching is to help clients improve their sexual satisfaction and confidence, and to create a more fulfilling sex life.
They are two different approaches to helping individuals or couples improve their sexual experiences and relationships, although there can be some overlap between the two.
Sex therapy typically involves working with a licensed mental health professional who has specialized training in sexual health and dysfunction. The focus of sex therapy is often on addressing specific psychological or emotional issues that may be impacting a person’s sexual functioning or satisfaction and may involve a variety of therapeutic techniques.
In contrast, sex coaching is typically focused on enhancing sexual pleasure and intimacy, rather than treating psychological or emotional disorders. Sex coaches may or may not have formal mental health training but they typically have specialized knowledge and training in sexuality and sexual wellness.
A typical session with a sex coach will vary depending on the coach’s style, the needs of the client, and the goals of the session. However, here is an example of what you could expect from a sex coaching session with me:
Introduction - We’ll get to know eachother and I’ll have you fill out a consent form as well as a coaching agreement.
Goal-Setting - We will work together to identify your specific goals for the session.
Education - I may provide you with some education on things like anatomy, tools, sexual health, depending on your needs.
Techniques - I may teach you some specific techniques for enhancing sexual pleasure and intimacy, such as communication skills.
Role-Playing - I may guide you in some role-playing exercises to help you practice any new skills or techniques in a safe and supportive environment.
Homework - I may assign homework for you to practice outside of our session.
Follow-Up - I will review your progress towards your goals and offer additional support or guidance as needed.
Throughout the session, I will create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for you to explore your queer and/or neurodivergent sexuality and address and concerns or issues. The specific techniques and methods used in session will depend on your specific goals and needs.
