Berlin, 9:40 a.m. The air is freezing, the sky is blue, and I’m walking through the city with a wide smile on my face. I’m on my way to meet couple and professional partners, Ena and Roxu for a shibari co-tying session.

I stop at my favourite bakery to treat us to some irresistibly naughty pastries. Why not add an extra layer of pleasure to such a promising day?

Ena welcomes me into her soulful space and immediately I feel a strong sense of peace and harmony. Before any ropes come out, we sit together and take time to talk.

We speak about their passion for rope and surrender, about my wishes, curiosities, boundaries, what I do not want to experience, and how my body feels today.

I had already answered some questions in writing, and through their genuine care I already felt deeply seen and heard. From the very beginning, this shibari experience feels safe, intentional, and grounded.

What is shibari co-tying?

Before going further, it feels important to clarify what shibari co-tying actually is.

Shibari co-tying is a rope practice where two riggers both tie one person with shibari rope, simultaneously and collaboratively.

Rather than taking turns or working independently, both practitioners are actively engaged in the tying process at the same time. In shibari co-tying, communication, trust, and energetic alignment between the riggers are just as important as their connection with the person being tied.

Unlike solo rope or sequential tying, shibari co-tying creates a dynamic, three-way exchange. It becomes a shared choreography where rope, bodies, breath, and attention are constantly negotiated. When done well, shibari co-tying can feel deeply freely and create a unique intimacy between the three individuals involved.

A three-way rope dance

We start with a floor tie.

From the first touch, the shibari co-tying unfolds like a quiet dance between three bodies. The energy between Ena and me is playful, feline, sensual. There is teasing, subtle flirtation, a delicious cat-like presence that keeps me alert and alive. Roxu’s energy is grounding and steady. I feel held, truly held, by the integrity and precision of his presence.

What touches me most is the depth of their connection with each other. Their trust, complicity, and attunement are palpable, and through the co-tying, they extend this energy to me. It feels like a privilege to be invited into such an intimate relational space.

Ena shares, “You are a dish that is served to us. We get to uncover you together like a gift, to peel layers both physically and personally.”

They move my body gently. At first, my instinct is to help, to participate, to stay useful. Then, slowly, I let go. I surrender to being moved. The ropes tease my skin, tightening and releasing. Ena’s fingernails awaken my skin while pressure points activate deeper sensations. A feather brushes my body. A hand grips my legs firmly enough to release moans and intuitive sounds where pain and pleasure blur together.

My mind softens.
Presence takes over.

I feel cherished, like a gourmet feast they savour and handle with care. The balance of their energies on either side of me is exquisite. Ena keeps me suspended in desire with her teasing presence, never giving me quite what I want, keeping me suspended in desire. My sexual energy rises, vibrant and alive, without needing an outcome.

Roxu moves my body and ties me further with such a comforting, firm presence.

“We are reaction fetishists,” Roxu shares. “In shibari co-tying sessions, We love to see how people respond to our ropes and what moves within them. We also love the challenge of how we can communicate, be creative and generous both with each and the person we tie” shares Roxu.

“When we co-tie, it feels like we are ending each other’s sentences with the ropes” adds Ena.

Rising into suspension through shibari co-tying

Gradually, the ropes tighten, and as the shibari co-tying session progresses, they begin to lift me. I feel the weight of my body held by the ropes. There is subtle pain, fully manageable, carried with such expertise that trust comes naturally. Their knowledge of anatomy and nerve pathways is impeccable, allowing me to surrender completely within the co-tying structure.

The suspension unfolds progressively, like a moment outside of time. I’m now hanging upside down. Blood rushes to my face. I breathe. Nothing else exists. No thoughts, no stories, just sensation, breath, presence. My hair is tied back. I am floating in time and space.

Suspension, for me, becomes less about connection and more about something deeply internal. A state of pure presence. Heat moves through my body. Calm settles everywhere.

I find such a deep state of relaxation within the constraint of the ropes. It makes me think that pure freedom sometimes leads to chaos, while there is such depth in finding freedom within ourselves, inside the constraints of a situation.

Following Roxu’s invitation, I accept an additional challenge within the suspension and feel quietly proud of myself.

As they shibari session winds down and they untie me slowly, I return to my body with tingling sensations spreading through my arms and legs. I feel high, blissful, grounded all at once. No more resistance. I fall into their arms, one on each side, and let myself be held by their presence, allowing emotions to surface in this beautiful and vulnerable moment.

A profoundly unique shibari experience

I have been tied many times before, but this shibari co-tying experience was something else entirely.

The mastery, devotion, precision, and integrity that Ena and Roxu bring to their shibari co-tying practice feel rare. Their work is not only technically exceptional, but relational, playful, erotic, and deeply attentive. I would recommend it to anyone, of any gender, whether curious or experienced.

They offer rope sessions individually and together as a  co-tying experience. They also facilitate workshops for those who want to explore how rope can deepen intimacy through connection practices, tease and denial, and embodied communication.

At the end of the session, Ena and Roxu co-tied me together with my partner. Our bodies were merged into each other, compressed by the ropes. I had never experienced such a profound sensation of closeness, being held so tightly against one another.

Our breaths naturally aligned as we melted into each other, supported by the ropes and by Ena and Roxu’s presence beside us.
It was intimate, powerful, and profoundly connecting.

This kind of shibari co-tying experience can absolutely stand alone as a full session for couples. Ena and Roxu offer dedicated couple sessions and private workshops for partners who want to explore rope together, learn co-tying, or simply be held in a shared experience.

Whether you arrive curious, experienced, solo, or partnered, a shibari co-tying session with Ena and Roxu meets you exactly where you are.
