Ever heard of an emotionally sustainable photography studio?
Meet Mervyn Reid-Nelson, the founder of You At Yours, a photography and confidence studio that flips the script on filters and Photoshop.
Instead of chasing the perfect shot, Mervyn creates a space where people can let go, play, and discover the magic they hold inside.
With over 750 sessions to date, his emotionally sustainable approach has helped hundreds rediscover their confidence – not through the image itself, but through the experience of being seen.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Smiley, reflective and calm.

Tell us more about yourself and what you do…
I run a confidence centre that runs in the opposite direction to filters and Photoshop. Instead, we help individuals discover and celebrate their strengths, reminding them of their power in the world.
It isn’t about “getting the shot” but instead focusing on providing a space safe enough for our clients to let their hair down and step into their element – this creates artwork that a mood board can’t inspire.
I’ve done this over 750 times now, with thousands more people helped through workshops, talks, and other events. I love helping people to see (and feel) what the rest of the world sees in them.
What services do you provide on Sensuali?
On paper, it’s a confidence photo shoot. At the heart, it’s a journey of self-discovery, enabling self-expression in any way that feels right/necessary to you in that moment. Playful, silly, sensual, sexual. Whatever you need to unlock is welcome.

What was your journey into this world?
It began with shooting weddings and meeting many self-deprecating Brits who would tell me all sorts of horrible things about themselves when I pointed my camera at them.
It was a form of self-defence, of course, but it forced me to turn my people skills and photography skills to help people with their junk.

What do the first 60 minutes of your day look like?
I coffee, journal and plan my day. Then the chaos kicks in and I create a mess figuring out what to wear!

Why do you do what you do?
I’ve been doing this most of my adult life. I uplift those around me and nudge them towards where they tell me they want to be.
I’ve given myself permission to help others outside of my bubble and so, in essence, I get paid to be myself, which is pretty cool.
What is an unexpected pleasure you discovered in your work?
It isn’t the photos that creates the confidence – it’s the experience.

What’s your superpower?
It’s not a superpower that is unique to me – we all have this, but I fully harness my intuition. I use it to navigate the needs of my clients and my life at large.

We love vices. What’s yours?
Forest Feast – Peanut Butter and Chocolate Dipped Dates. Holy shit!!
Who are your sensual inspirations?
Does Esther Perel count?!

Closing thoughts? Anything else to add?
Don’t book me because you want nice photos. Book me because you’re tired of hiding and putting others first. I’ll sort you out!
