Dominique Landinez founded Kink n' Draw to bring the community-based figure drawing spaces she loved in New York back to DC. Her events centre queer and trans models with diverse body types, intentionally separating nude art from the male gaze. What started in her apartment has grown into immersive, house-music-fuelled nights that challenge how people think about bodies, sexuality, and creative connection.
When Dominique Landinez moved back to Washington DC from New York, she noticed something was missing: the kind of figure drawing spaces where artists could gather, create, and feel genuinely connected. So she built one.
Kink n’ Draw began as an invite-only evening in her one-bedroom apartment and has evolved into a series of immersive events that blur the lines between art, nightlife, and community. Her approach is deliberate: queer and trans models, diverse body types, and a no-male-gaze policy.
What she’s created is empowering and fun for those who come to draw, but equally so for those who get drawn.

Tell us more about yourself
My name is Dominique, and I’m the founder and event curator behind Kink n’ Draw. I grew up in Washington DC and was born in Canada. I’ve been part of the kink community for about 4 years, the poly lifestyle for 6, and I’ve been queer my whole life — all of which deeply shaped the foundation of these events.
Before Kink n’ Draw, I was living in NYC working three jobs: an art educator, a bartender for (very secret) kink parties, and a figure drawing model.
The idea for Kink n’ Draw started super low-key in my one-bedroom apartment, where I invited close friends, friends of friends, and artists I met through figure drawing gigs to come draw together.
Figure drawing spaces like this are pretty common in NYC, but I didn’t see many in DC — so when I moved back home, I wanted to bring that energy and community with me. What began as something casual and for fun slowly grew into full events hosted at venues across DC.

What turns you on?
Communication more than anything. If we are on the same page and open with each other then the possibilities are endless.
What was your journey into this world?
My mom is from Mexico City and my dad is from Bogotá, Colombia, and they both worked really hard to bring me into this world.
My journey is rooted in survival but also open mindedness, curiosity, love, thinking outside of the box, and opportunity.
What do the first 60 minutes of your day look like?
Wake up, stretch, mentally prepare to get out of bed for five minutes, then shower, brush teeth, hair routine, cook breakfast, make my bed and pick out a fun outfit for the day.

Why do you do what you do?
I am an artist that craved more community-based events in nightlife spaces, especially spaces with a young, kinky, open minded crowd. I also love house music and wanted to bring my theatrical date-night vision to life through music and fun vibes.
What is an unexpected pleasure you discovered in your work?
Event coordination truly forces me to think outside of the box. There is so much that can go wrong but if you think on your feet and improvise quickly, everything will be okay.
What should more people know about your work?
The nude body is not inherently sexual. Yes, there is a kinky spin to my events but it doesn’t mean that art and nude figure drawing is a kinky thing. I want to distinguish the difference because I don’t want to conflate the two concepts.
My events are very queer because of the kind of models I use (I intentionally book queer/trans models) but that doesn’t mean that queer people are inherently kinky.
I try to book models with different body types because visibility matters and being made into art is extremely empowering.
This event is not for the male gaze and not a peep show. I have booked cis models in the past but I mainly book sapphic women, trans women, and trans men. If you come to my event you are required to draw and follow the rules for the models’ comfort.
