Meet Lauren Goyette: sex and relationship coach helping individuals and couples unlearn shame and build deeper intimacy and connection.
Lauren Goyette has been talking about sex since 2013, back when most of us were still whispering about it. A sex and relationship coach, educator, writer, and host of the Desire Dialogues podcast, she is now completing a master’s in clinical mental health counselling alongside her practice.
Her work rests on the belief that most people were never taught the skills intimacy requires: communication, boundaries, desire, and emotional connection. Through coaching, education, and writing, she helps individuals and couples build those skills without shame or judgement.
In this interview, Lauren discusses her submissive side, her unapologetic vices, and why there is no finish line when it comes to sexuality.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Bold, passionate, and caring
Tell us more about yourself…
I’m a sex and relationship coach, sexuality educator, writer, podcast host, and graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling.
My work focuses on helping individuals and couples build healthier relationships with themselves, their partners, and their sexuality.
I believe that most people were never taught the skills needed for intimacy, communication, pleasure, desire, boundaries, or emotional connection.
Through coaching, education, workshops, content creation, and speaking engagements, I help people navigate these topics with curiosity, compassion, and practical tools they can apply in everyday life.
My approach blends evidence-based education with real-world conversations, creating a space where people can explore sexuality and relationships without shame or judgment.

What turns you on?
Erotic charge, novelty, emotionally safe environments and ego stroking. I’m submissive in the bedroom. I like to be seen as a good girl and invited to be a toy. Versus told.

What was your journey into this world?
My journey started in 2013 when I joined the adult toy industry and direct sales. Like many people, I grew up with plenty of questions and very few meaningful conversations about sex, relationships, desire, and intimacy. Over time, my own curiosity led me down a path of learning, self-discovery, and professional training.
What started as a personal interest evolved into a passion for helping others navigate the topics that so many of us were never taught.
Along the way, I realized that beneath most questions about sex are deeper questions about communication, self-worth, vulnerability, connection, and being fully seen.
Today, I combine education, coaching, writing, and advocacy to help people build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
What do the first 60 minutes of your day look like?
The first hour of my day is usually a mix of coffee, mindfulness, stretching, checking messages, reviewing my schedule, and trying to organize the many ideas constantly running through my head.
Depending on the day, I may be preparing for client sessions, working on content, recording a podcast episode, writing, studying for graduate school, or planning future projects.
I like having a little quiet time before diving into work, even if life doesn’t always cooperate with that plan.
Why do you do what you do?
I do this work because I believe sexuality and relationships are fundamental parts of being human, yet they’re often the areas where people receive the least education and support!
Too many people carry shame, confusion, loneliness, or the belief that something is wrong with them simply because they were never taught how desire, intimacy, communication, or relationships actually work.
I love helping people understand themselves more deeply. Watching someone replace self-judgment with self-compassion, have a difficult conversation they’ve been avoiding, or feel more connected to themselves and their partner is incredibly rewarding. If I can help people feel a little less alone and a little more empowered, then I’m doing meaningful work.

What is an unexpected pleasure you discovered in your work?
One of the most unexpected joys has been discovering how much this work is about hope. People often come seeking help because they’re struggling with communication, desire, confidence, intimacy, or relationships, but what I witness is their willingness to grow.
I get to see people challenge old beliefs, learn new skills, reconnect with themselves, and create relationships that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
Being invited into those moments of transformation is something I never take for granted. It’s a privilege to witness people becoming more fully themselves.
What should more people know about your work?
Many people assume sex and relationship coaching is only for individuals or couples experiencing major problems. In reality, a lot of my work focuses on education, self-discovery, communication, and personal growth.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from learning more about yourself, your relationships, your desires, or your patterns.
My work isn’t about telling people what their relationships should look like. It’s about helping them better understand themselves so they can make informed, intentional choices that align with their values, needs, and goals.
I also wish more people knew that conversations about sexuality don’t have to be awkward, clinical, or shame-filled. They can be thoughtful, empowering, and even enjoyable.
What’s your superpower?
My kindness, gentleness, and down-to-earth nature.
I’ve been told I have a way of helping people feel comfortable talking about things they never thought they could say out loud. Whether it’s sex, desire, relationships, shame, or vulnerability, I try to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment.

From roommate mode to real connection, desire, and intimacy
We love vices. What’s yours?
Coffee, colorful language, sex toys, and cigarettes. I’m human, after all.
Who are your sensual inspirations?
My greatest inspiration is the ongoing exploration of my own sexuality and intimate relationships.
As I grow and evolve, so does my understanding of desire, pleasure, connection, and what it means to be fully present with myself and a partner.
I believe sexuality isn’t something we arrive at and master; it’s something we continue discovering throughout our lives.
Closing thoughts?
I’d love for people to remember that there is no finish line when it comes to learning about yourself, your relationships, or your sexuality. Curiosity is one of the most powerful tools we have.
You don’t have to have everything figured out. Growth happens through asking questions, having honest conversations, and giving yourself permission to explore. Be gentle with yourself. Most of us are learning as we go.
