My work with rope begins with listening to the breath, the body, and the quiet currents of sensation beneath the skin.
I offer rope work not as performance, but as a practice of intimacy, presence, and deep embodiment. Whether you’re here to learn technique, reconnect with your body, or explore conscious surrender, our work together is guided by trust and care.
My approach blends Japanese rope techniques with elements of somatics, yoga, and sound, inviting more than form or function. This is a ritual. This is an exploration of the nervous system.
My Style
Queer-informed, trauma-aware, body-reverent.
My spaces are held gently but firmly, with a focus on mutual respect, communication, and grounded exploration. I hold rope as both technique and energy, structure and flow. Some sessions are quiet and internal. Others are expressive and wild. Always, we move at the pace of trust.
Who I Work With
All bodies. All genders. All levels of experience.
I am especially passionate about working with queer, neurodivergent, and marginalized folks seeking alternative paths to embodiment, and empowerment. My work meets you where you are, curious, anxious, longing, brave.
About Me
My name is L-corde. I’m a practitioner offering care through Shibari, yoga, and sound. I hold an RYT 500 certification, am trained in pre- and postnatal yoga, and am a certified YACEP sound healing facilitator. I work at the intersection of somatics, rope, and ritual, always centering accessibility, embodied agency, and co-creation. My practice is shaped by years of study, personal experience, and a deep commitment to creating spaces where all bodies can explore movement, connection, and rest.
My Offerings
Private Shibari Sessions
These one-on-one sessions are co-created experiences that explore the possibilities of rope in a supportive, grounded container. Together, we shape the tone, from meditative stillness to playful resistance or deep emotional release. You may be tied, held, suspended, or simply witnessed. Each session begins with conversation and consent-building, and moves at a pace that honors your boundaries, sensations, and desires.
Rope Teaching & Mentorship
Whether you’re new to Shibari or refining your practice, these private or small-group sessions are designed to help you build confidence, communication, and technical fluency. I offer step-by-step instruction in foundational ties, body awareness, safe rope handling, and creative flow with an emphasis on learning to read bodies, not just rope. For both riggers and models, this is a space to grow skills in a consent-based, trauma-aware environment.

FAQ

What is shibari?
Shibari is a Japanese rope practice that can explore connection, aesthetics, sensation, vulnerability, and communication. For me, rope is not simply about being tied, it is a way of creating a shared experience through touch, movement, tension, trust, and presence.
What do you offer?
I offer private rope sessions, beginner-friendly experiences, rope education, and personalized sessions for people who want to explore rope in a safe and intentional environment. Sessions can focus on learning, sensation, connection, aesthetics, or simply experiencing what it feels like to be held by rope.
Do I need any experience with rope?
Not at all. You can come with zero experience. I will explain everything you need to know and adapt the session to your comfort level and experience.
Do I need to know what I want before a session?
No. You don’t need to arrive with a fully formed idea or a specific scene in mind. We can talk beforehand about what you’re curious about, what you would like to explore, and what you want to avoid, then shape the session together
Can I book a session as a complete beginner?
Absolutely. Beginner sessions are welcome and can be a gentle introduction to rope, whether you want to learn about tying or simply experience being in rope.
What happens during a session?
Every session begins with communication and consent. We discuss your experience, intentions, boundaries, and anything I should know before we begin. From there, we build the session together, checking in throughout and leaving space to adjust or stop whenever needed.
Is shibari painful?
Rope can create pressure, intensity, and strong physical sensations, but pain is never something you simply have to tolerate. We communicate throughout the session and adjust the rope, position, or intensity according to your boundaries and body.
What does consent look like during a rope session?
Consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time question. You can change your mind, ask for an adjustment, or stop at any moment. I will also communicate with you throughout the session so that we can make informed decisions together.
Is a rope session sexual?
Rope can be sensual, intimate, or erotic, but it does not have to be sexual. The boundaries and intention of each session are discussed beforehand. My practice is centered on connection, embodiment, trust, and exploration rather than assuming what intimacy should look like.
Do you offer sessions for couples or partners?
Yes. Rope can be a beautiful way for partners to explore communication, trust, intimacy, and play together. Sessions can be adapted to your experience and relationship dynamic.
Can I come alone?
Yes. You do not need a partner to explore rope. We can discuss what kind of experience you are looking for and whether a session with me is the right fit.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced, strong, or conventionally “good” at anything. Rope can be adapted to different bodies, abilities, and comfort levels.
What should I wear?
Wear something you feel comfortable moving and breathing in. Depending on the session, you may want clothing that allows access to areas where the rope will be placed. We can discuss this beforehand.
How long is a session?
Session length depends on what we are doing and what you book. (Between 1.5 and 3 hrs) I will provide the duration and details when we arrange your session.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place in a private, agreed-upon space. The location and practical details are discussed when booking. I have a studio in Amsterdam
