Couples rarely keep fighting because of the topic itself. More often, they’re caught in a cycle where both people are trying to have an important emotional need understood, but neither feels heard and so the pattern repeats itself. The goal isn’t to eliminate all conflict because healthy relationships still experience disagreements. The aim is to recognise the pattern you’re both caught in, understand what sits beneath the argument, and learn how to respond to each other in a way that involves active listening, care and compassion for each others point of view.
