Do we need to become intoxicated to overcome shame and embody our radical authenticity?

Do we find it challenging to “undress” and allow ourselves to be fully seen?

For many of us living in a judgmental, shame-inducing society, shedding the garments of inauthenticity and allowing our souls to be seen—exposed and vulnerable—can feel impossible. Yet our reluctance to confront shame can create confusion and even harm us and our most intimate relationships.

In Sufi poetry and tradition, drinking from the saghar and becoming intoxicated often symbolize letting go of our defenses and allowing our souls to meet, deeply and openly.

In this performance and ritual, Roja and Becki explore how confronting shame through r0pe, live Iranian traditional soundscapes, and Farsi Sufi poetry can help us cultivate the authenticity we long for in our connections with others.

Join us on this alchemical journey as we channel the s*xual energy we may have been taught to feel ashamed of through r0pe and b0ndage, immersed in traditional Iranian Sufi sounds and poetry.
