What you'll know after reading this
- When choosing a yoni massage practitioner, check their training, background and approach.
- Before booking a yoni massage, make sure consent, boundaries and the session itself are clearly explained.
- Compare yoni massage practitioners by the full experience they offer, not just price or session length.
If you are trying to work out how to choose a yoni massage practitioner, it can be difficult to know what separates one offering from another. Websites may use similar language, while the practitioner’s training, approach and what actually happens during a session can vary considerably.
I’m Rubens Abreu, a sensual bodywork and yoni massage practitioner. In my work, I speak with clients before they book, so I see first-hand the questions, uncertainties and concerns that can come up when someone is choosing a practitioner.
Before booking, it is worth looking beyond price and photographs. Finding out who the practitioner is, how they work, what is included and how they communicate about consent can help you make a more informed choice.

What is yoni massage?
Yoni massage is a form of intimate bodywork focused on a woman’s pelvic area, including the vulva, vagina and surrounding internal structures. Depending on the practitioner and their approach, it may involve relaxation and pleasure, body awareness, sensation or emotional exploration.
Some people describe themselves as yoni massage therapists, while others use terms such as practitioner or bodyworker. More important than the title itself is understanding what each individual means when they describe their work as yoni massage.
Training backgrounds, philosophies and approaches can vary significantly. That is why it is useful to ask questions rather than assuming every practitioner offers the same kind of experience.
How do you find a yoni massage practitioner?
When a potential client reaches out to me, they will usually have searched something like “yoni massage London” and found me through Google or Instagram before visiting my website.
Before arranging a consultation call, I ask them to complete a client intake form. This gives me some information beforehand and creates a starting point for a more useful conversation.
A practitioner’s website can tell you quite a lot. Can you clearly see who they are? Is there information about their experience, training and approach? With intimate bodywork, knowing who you are considering booking with is an important first step.
I would also look beyond photographs and marketing language. A polished website does not automatically tell you whether someone is the right practitioner for you, but transparency is a useful starting point. You should be able to find their name, understand what they offer and get a sense of how they approach their work.

What should you ask about their training and approach?
Ask the practitioner about their background, training and what yoni massage means within their own practice.
There is no single universally recognised route into yoni massage, so approaches can vary widely.
If someone is unwilling to explain how they came to the work or how they practise, I would personally be cautious.
Where possible, look for information about training and experience on their website too, rather than relying only on what is said during the booking process.
What does yoni massage mean to the practitioner?
One useful question is: “What does yoni massage mean to you, and how do you work with it?”
Some practitioners approach yoni massage primarily as sensual or pleasure-focused bodywork. Others incorporate practices they describe as yoni de-armouring or work involving areas of physical tension and emotional responses.
These approaches are not interchangeable. What matters is understanding the terminology that particular practitioner uses, what they actually offer and whether that matches what you are looking for.
Should a yoni massage practitioner offer a consultation?
A consultation gives you an opportunity to ask questions and get a clearer sense of how the practitioner communicates before deciding whether to book.
In my own practice, I find a phone conversation particularly valuable. You can hear each other’s voices, establish some rapport and discuss what the client is looking for.
If a client is new to me, I personally do not book them without a call first.
Notice whether the practitioner answers your questions clearly and gives you space to speak. If it is your first time exploring yoni massage, you may have a lot you want to clarify before feeling ready to make a decision.
How should a practitioner handle emotional responses?
It is worth asking how the practitioner works if strong emotions come up during a session.
Intimate bodywork may feel emotionally significant for some people, while others may experience it primarily as sensual or physical. A practitioner does not need to be a psychotherapist, but they should be clear about the boundaries of their role and what support they can and cannot offer.
In my own work, I believe an awareness of trauma and emotional responses is important. For me, part of creating a comfortable environment is making sure a client does not feel embarrassed or judged if they become emotional during a session.
This is also where professional boundaries matter. Yoni massage should not be presented as a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care or specialist trauma support.

All practitionersHow useful are reviews when choosing a yoni massage practitioner?
Reviews can help you understand how previous clients describe the practitioner’s communication, professionalism and overall experience.
Start with testimonials on the practitioner’s own website, but consider looking at independent review platforms too. On-site testimonials have been selected by the practitioner, so an external source can give you another perspective.
No review platform is completely immune to misleading or unrepresentative reviews, so avoid treating a high rating as proof on its own. Instead, look at the overall pattern.
Consider:
- Are there a reasonable number of reviews?
- Do different clients mention similar qualities?
- Are the reviews detailed rather than generic?
- Does the practitioner respond professionally to criticism?
- Have reviews appeared consistently over time?
Reviews are one part of the picture, alongside the practitioner’s training, communication and how you feel when speaking with them.
What are some warning signs when choosing a practitioner?
Some behaviours may give you reason to pause before booking.
It is also worth paying attention to how payment is handled and whether reviews feel sparse, generic or inconsistent. None of these things tells you everything on its own, but together they can help you judge whether you have enough information to feel comfortable proceeding.
What should you ask about consent and boundaries?
Before any intimate bodywork, you should be able to discuss what is and is not included, how consent works and what happens if you change your mind.
Useful questions include:
- What is and is not included in the session?
- What happens if I change my mind?
- How is consent communicated?
- Can I pause or stop the session at any point?
You should also be able to explain your own boundaries and needs. A practitioner should not assume that everybody booking the same type of session wants the same experience.
Consent is not something that only happens during the booking process. It should also be discussed when you arrive, because something you felt comfortable considering beforehand may feel different on the day.
You might be interested in body awareness, pleasure or simply experiencing the massage without a particular goal in mind. The important thing is that both you and the practitioner understand what you are agreeing to.
If you are considering a session with a partner, ask whether the practitioner works with couples and how those sessions are structured.
What practical questions should you ask before booking?
The practical details of a yoni massage can matter just as much as the practitioner’s approach.
Find out where the session will take place, whether that is a studio, your home or a hotel, and make sure you are comfortable with the arrangement. The practitioner should also be able to explain their cancellation policy, deposits and other booking terms clearly.
It is reasonable to ask about hygiene too, including how the space is prepared between clients and how relevant health questions are handled during the consultation.
These may seem like basic details, but clear answers can tell you a lot about how somebody runs their practice.

How should you feel during the consultation?
You should feel able to ask questions and communicate openly, even if you are still nervous or unsure about booking.
Credentials and reviews are useful, but pay attention to the conversation itself too. Does the practitioner give you time to speak? Do they answer what you are actually asking? Do you feel they are listening, rather than simply trying to secure a booking?
You do not need to feel completely relaxed during an initial conversation. However, you should feel able to say what you want, ask for clarification and decide not to continue if the interaction does not feel right for you.
Making contact does not create an obligation to book.
What does a yoni massage session actually include?
The advertised session length does not necessarily tell you how much of that time is spent receiving massage, so ask how the full booking is structured.
One practitioner might advertise a three-hour booking with a set amount of massage within it. Another may structure the same length of booking differently, with more or less time for preparation, conversation or decompression afterwards.
Neither approach is automatically better. They are simply different experiences, which is why it is worth understanding what you are comparing.
In my own work, a three-hour booking includes around 90 minutes of massage rather than three continuous hours. I intentionally include time to connect beforehand, shower, practise mindfulness and decompress afterwards so that the experience does not feel rushed.
For me, those elements are part of the session rather than extras around the massage.
How much of the booking is actually massage?
Ask the practitioner directly how much time is spent receiving massage and how the remaining booking time is used.
You might also ask:
- Is there preparation beforehand?
- Is there time to decompress afterwards?
- Are showers or other facilities included?
- Are there any additional charges?
This gives you a more useful basis for comparing practitioners than looking at the hourly price alone.
The highest-priced practitioner is not automatically the right choice, just as the lowest price does not necessarily represent the best value. What matters is understanding what is included and whether the practitioner’s approach, boundaries and structure match what you are looking for.

Final thoughts
Choosing a yoni massage practitioner involves more than comparing prices or finding whoever appears first in a search. Take some time to look at their training, website, reviews and approach, then speak to them before deciding whether to book.
Ask about consent, boundaries, location, hygiene, cancellation terms and what the booking actually includes. You are allowed to ask detailed questions about an intimate experience before deciding whether it feels right for you.
Ultimately, there is no single practitioner or style of yoni massage that will suit everybody. The aim is to have enough information to make your own decision and to choose someone whose communication and approach make you feel comfortable asking for what you need.
