What is nuru massage?
Nuru means slippery in Japanese. A nuru massage uses a warm, odourless gel, traditionally made from seaweed, which lets the practitioner glide over your body with their own body, usually on a waterproof mat. It is a close, body-to-body form of sensual massage.
What a session looks like
The practitioner prepares the gel and the space, agrees boundaries with you, then works slowly over your back and front with long, flowing movements. Many people find the warmth, weight and steady rhythm deeply relaxing. A shower before and after is part of most sessions.
